Seeing Red

As it reads in the Gospel of John (Osborne) Chapter 57 verse 21, “There is no rest, saith the boss, for the AET.” While that is entirely fictitious, it might as well have been true the last two weeks.

Before Staci’s return from America we had two more days of summer training. One of these days was spent in the famed Sinrin Koen (Dinosaur Park). That morning we made soba/watched soba being made...

And then it was time to eat! Along with soba, there was also lots of tempura and pickled vegetables...

The rest of the day we walked around the park, ate watermelon and shared some games our students play at recess...

That weekend Staci arrived back from America and brought with her many goodies that are impossible to find or just too expensive in Japan. Sourpatch Kids, Mac and cheese and shoes big enough for my feet just to name a few. The next week was a blur...

We did have our first Church Flock meeting. It was a great time of fellowship and ridiculous amounts of food...

That Saturday afternoon we went to the Oarai Aquarium with free tickets from my Kouchou Sensei. The signs were mostly in Japanese, but there were some great sights...

This is a dolphin/sea lion show we attended. If you look in the background you can see the ocean. The aquarium is actually on the beach...

Two days ago we piled 5 people into our car and drove down to Chiba-ken to do some shopping. There is a mall, an IKEA and Costco all within walking distance of each other. We bought two chairs, cheese, a lot of Dr. Pepper, and a few other items. Here’s a picture of the chairs...

Ikea

If you can’t tell, the chairs are red. We will put up better pictures soon...

Sunday we started EBC (English Bible Class). It offers a Bible-themed English study with a native English speaker. I have two older gentlemen in my group and Staci teaches 3 younger women. This is a very exciting ministry and we are very happy to be involved.
