Disneyland

Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays, but this year the formula changed...

Thanksgiving - family - football = SAD (seasonal affective disorder)

So this year we decided to skip the traditional festivities and visit a place devoted to happiness that is also overflowing with turkey legs...Disneyland!

We left around 5 AM and stayed until the park closed...

A Thanksgiving feast (part 1 of 3)

Many of us bought these character hats to keep warm and look awesome.

Our future olympic tea cup team. We spun so fast I thought I was going to fall out.

One of our favorite floats in the parade.

It was a great day of fun and adventure. We just went to Disneyland! What are we going to do next?

Go back to work.

Holy Mackerel!

First, we have a bowl of cooked rice with vegetables. On the plate there are two mackerel fritters, komatsuna (leafy vegetable) and sprouts with a peanut taste. For dessert, a `france jelly` which is basically a pear-flavored jell-o. Voila!

Hi there! There are many things about this meal I like, the salad/sprout thing is not one of them. The sad part about that is the fact that I LOVE salad! Let me rephrase that, I love American salads. A huge bowl full of a variety of lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, red onions, peppers, cheese, croutons, and a huge helping of ranch dressing (this might be part of what is wrong with America today). I am tired of cabbage and sprouts masquerading as salad ingredients. So I say to you bean sprouts, know your role.. I will rate this at a 2/5 turkey legs.

Sorry to throw such large turkey legs at you, I guess this is how it is going to be now...

Southern Cooking

This meal is in the style of Fukuoka prefecture which is on the southern most island of Japan. In the bowl we have tonkotsu (pork bone broth) ramen with a variety of vegetables. There is also a boiled egg and a Chinese salad. If you look closely you can see the cold Chinese-style noodles.

I generally enjoyed this meal. I like noodles.. a lot. Also, boiled eggs are pretty much the best thing ever. I will be giving this 3/5 turkey legs. Bam! I have spoken.
New blogger made extra large tukey legs.Yummy...

Natto

Rice, natto (fermented soy beans) with mustard. Nikujaga which is made with meat, potatoes, onions and other vegetables stewed in a sweetened soy sauce and some type of salad.

Japanese Food
I have a love/hate relationship with natto. Ok... a like-ish/hate relationship. It is pretty good slathered in mustard and soy sauce, but isn't just about anything? My biggest issue with natto is the smell. It smells like dirty, stinky feet. Also, the texture- it is super sticky and stringy and kids talk with their mouths open, not a great school lunch food. The total meal was pretty good though so I will give this 3/5 turkey legs. Go NATTO!

Apple Starr

First we have“black
” bread with the AMAZING creamy chicken and spinach soup. There is also a sprout salad with an apple slice. If you ever want an apple in Japan just say the first name of the famous Beatles drummer. Of course, if you want to say the band name you must pronounce it “bi-tah-ru-su”

Japanese Food
My turn! This meal kind of lights up my life... It is SO good. Seriously, that stew is incredible. This is also probably the most fattening meal we ever eat. LOVE IT! 5/5 turkey legs!

What Are You Looking At?

The first item I was reluctant to try as soon as I saw eyeballs. However, the daikon and beef soboro as well as the daikon salad were good.

Japanese Food

The eyes are not so fabulous. Also, I could do without the tail, but the stuff in the middle of the fish is pretty good. Also, I am fine with the soup/stew/whatever that things is. 3/5 turkey legs for you!

Squid: It`s what`s for lunch

Rice with seaweed. Squid and sweet potatoes (sort of candied) with a wafu salad.

This is Staci. I have decided I want some input in Daniel's posts SO I am going to rate lunches from now on. I give this lunch a low rating of 1 out of 5 Turkey Legs. Not so tasty. Sorry squid...
